(文化)康沃爾主辦糕餅錦標賽

全世界的廚師都會前來角逐最佳糕餅師傅的頭銜。

今年三月,英國康沃爾將會主辦有史以來第一場的世界糕餅錦標賽。來自世界各地的大廚都會前往聖奧斯特爾的Eden Project參加比賽,他們將會爭奪最佳糕餅師傅的冠冕。主要的獎項將會頒給用傳統康沃爾食譜做成的糕餅,替代食譜則會有個別的比賽。

康沃爾的糕餅在當地及全英國是極度受歡迎的食物。它甚至被授予歐盟法律保護的地位。根據康沃爾的糕餅協會指出,道地的糕餅應該要是D型的餅,內餡應該要「厚實,包含未煮過的牛肉丁或牛肉塊以及瑞典蕪菁、馬鈴薯、洋蔥和一點調味。」

Eden Project的管理主任蓋納科萊表示,「這個糕餅是康沃爾最棒的標誌之一,也是最佳的出口商品,由那些離開這個港口的採礦家庭帶著技能,也帶著他們最愛的食物到全世界去。」

(Culture) Cornwall to Host Pasty Championships

Cooks from around the world will compete for the title of best pasty.

In March this year, Cornwall in England will host the first ever World Pasty Championships. Chefs from around the world will head to the Eden Project in St. Austell for the competition, and they will battle for the crown of best pasty. The main prize will be for pasties made to the traditional Cornish recipe, but there will be separate contests for alternative recipes.

The Cornish pasty is an immensely popular type of food in Cornwall and throughout the UK. It has even been awarded protected status under EU law. According to the Cornish Pasty Association, an authentic pasty should be a D-shaped pastry, and its filling should be chunky, made up of uncooked mince or chunks of beef with swede, potato, and onion and a light seasoning.

The Eden Projects managing director, Gaynor Coley, said: The pasty is one of the great icons of Cornwall and also one of its best exports, carried in the hands of all those hardy mining families who left this coast and who took their skills V and their favorite food V across the world.
