"颱風造成的損害近十億"

蘇力颱風讓台灣的農業和許多間學校損失慘重。

蘇力颱風上週末橫掃北台灣，造成農產、牲畜、水產和林業的鉅額損失，也讓私人農業設施嚴重受害。根據行政院農委會所說，農業總損失將近十億新台幣，南投和苗栗縣損失最慘重。農產方面來說，稻作、梨子、香蕉、柿子和竹筍都受到嚴重影響。

另外，強風和豪雨導致學校災情慘重。教育部說全台有367間學校面臨上百萬的損害，宜蘭縣54間學校、大台中地區有50間，新北市則有48間。

暴風雨也導致三人死亡和超過百人受傷，大多數都是輕傷，是因樹木倒下或是強風將人吹落機車而致。也有超過一百萬戶停電，但大部分地區都已經恢復電力。

(Life) Typhoon Damage Amounts to Billions

The strike of Typhoon Soulik has left Taiwans agricultural sector and many schools in devastation.

Typhoon Soulik roared through Northern Taiwan last weekend, resulting in millions of dollars in produce, livestock, aquaculture and forestry losses, as well as extensive damage to private agricultural facilities. According to the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, the agricultural losses totaled nearly NTD1bn, with Nantou and Miaoli Counties suffering the greatest losses. In terms of the produce, rice, pears, bananas, persimmons and bamboo shoots were most severely affected.

In addition, the strong winds and heavy downpour led to substantial damage to schools. The Ministry of Education said that 367 schools across Taiwan are facing millions in damage, among which 54 are in Yilan County, 50 in Greater Taichung and 48 in New Taipei City.

The storm also led to 3 deaths and over 100 injuries, most of which were light and were caused by either fallen trees or powerful winds that blew people off their scooters. Over a million households experienced electricity disruptions as well, but the majority of them have already seen their power restored.
