"艾菲爾鐵塔被評為歐洲最有價值的地標"

為了根據「形象、品牌和美學特質」找出歐洲主要地標的經濟價值，最近義大利蒙扎與布裏安扎商會做了一份研究。艾菲爾鐵塔拔得頭籌，估計價值為美金5440億，幾乎是該國國內生產總值的五分之一。第二名是羅馬競技場遺跡，經估約值美金900億，緊接著是馬德里的普拉多美術館，據估約值美金580億。

Standing in the centre of Paris, the 320-meter iron tower is not only an icon of the city; it is also Europes most valuable monument.

A study by Italys Monza and Brianza Chamber of Commerce was recently conducted in a bid to find the monetary value of major European monuments based on their image, branding and aesthetic qualities. The Eiffel Tower came out on top, valued at US$544 billion, almost a fifth of the countrys domestic product. In second place was Romes Colosseum, which is deemed to worth about US$90 billion, followed by Madrids Prado Museum, worth about US$58 billion.

The chamber says the figures represent what a country would lose if it did not have the landmark. Though, a spokesman commented, Clearly this is a hypothesis and could never happen. On the other hand, the Italian media did not seem overjoyed about the value placed on the Eiffel Tower. By this logic, the Eiffel Tower is worth almost twice as much as the annual wealth generated by the entire city of Milan, which seems a little excessive, the Milan Today newspaper said.
