"英國將嚴控學期中請假"

英國教育大臣邁克爾戈夫說，他希望對將小孩帶離學校去度假的家長更嚴厲。

教師也將不得在學校假期之外因為生病、壞天氣和家人過世而請假兩週。戈夫聲稱這些新規定將會改善學校學生和教師的整體出席率。

戈夫想要對經常鼓勵學生缺課的家長進行罰款。家長經常在非學校假期的時候安排家庭度假行程，因為度假的花費在淡季比較便宜。

戈夫表示，老師要在學生缺席期間有效地教學是很困難的。對學生來說，要跟上缺課的進度也很困難，而且時常會中斷班上其他人的上課進度。

有些家長辯稱，學生從家庭假期所得到的經驗比在學校十天還要有教育性。其他人則表示，如果旅行社全年凍漲假期的旅費，那麼便宜假期的問題就不會存在了。

UK education secretary, Michael Gove, says he wants to get stricter with parents who take their children out of school to go on holiday.

Teachers, as well, will not be able to take the two weeks leave over and above the school holidays for reasons such as illness, bad weather, and death in the family. Gove claims that these new rules will improve the general attendance at school by both the pupils and the teachers.

Gove wants to impose fines on parents who regularly encourage their children to miss school. Parents often book holidays for their families out of the normal school holidays because the costs of holidays are less expensive out of season.

Gove argues that it is very difficult for teachers to teach effectively while pupils are away. It is also difficult for the pupils to catch up the work missed and it is often disruptive to the rest of the class.

Some parents argue that the experience gained from a family holiday is far more educational than ten days at school. Others argue that if holiday companies left the prices of holidays untouched during all times of the year, the problem of cheaper holidays would not exist.
