(Business)US Retailer Boosts Its Presence in China
Walmart is taking a 51% stake in a leading Chinese e-commerce web site. Consumers will be delivered superb customer experience according to Neil Ashe, President and Chief Executive of Walmart Global.
The company will offer same-day or next-day delivery. Mr. Ashe said that, in addition to helping Walmarts e-commerce goals in China, the increased investment in the Chinese company, Yihaodian would contribute to Chinas domestic consumption, stabilize prices, and advance expansion in the middle and western regions of China.
This is in line with Beijings often repeated desire to make progress on these goals in the current Five Year plan. There has been one problem when Walmart closed its stores in Chongqing for two weeks after the local government found it had mislabeled ordinary pork as organic. Monitoring of Walmart is appreciated by the Administration of Industry and Commerce in the area.
Bloggers have lots to say about this: I live in China and dont buy anything from Walmart, because it always has the highest pricesK This is just one example.
