"台中籌畫歌劇院開幕慶典"

台中大都會歌劇院雖然目前尚未完工，但已經成為最近台中議員口中談論的焦點，他們一直在討論開幕的想法。

討論中提到的想法包括主辦金馬獎，以及邀請英國的年輕皇室夫妻威廉和凱特參加。

新聞局長石靜文最近被台中市議員問到，到底稱之為中文版奧斯卡的金馬獎是否會成為開幕慶典的一部分，但她尚未給出明確的答案。

國民黨籍的台中市議員李中表示，金馬獎將不足以展現此歌劇院應得的國際聲譽和能見度，他覺得此歌劇院與雪梨歌劇院水準齊平，所以他認為應該要追求更盛大的方式。

台中市計畫於七月開放讓人們至歌劇院觀光，並且將於今年11月完工，這樣若最後決定讓金馬獎在此舉行的話就可以舉辦了。

(Local) Taichung Plans Festive Opening For Opera House

The Metropolitan Opera House in Greater Taichung, although currently incomplete, has been the talk of the town recently among city councilors who have been discussing ideas regarding its opening.

Ideas tossed around include hosting the Golden Horse Awards and inviting Britains young royal couple, Will and Kate, to attend.

Information Bureau Director Shih Ching-wen was recently asked by Greater Taichung councilors whether or not the Golden Horse Awards, considered to be the Chinese-language Oscars, would be part of the opening ceremony, but a conclusive answer was not given.

The Chinese Nationalist party (KMT) Greater Taichung Councilor Lee Chung stated that the Golden Horse Awards would not be enough to showcase the international prestige and visibility that the opera house, on par with the Sydney Opera House, deserves, and was in favor of something larger.

The city has plans to open the opera house for sightseeing in July and have its construction completed by November this year, which would allow for the Golden Horse Awards to be held there if that decision is made.
