"日月光遭罰 對公共安全的忽視一覽無遺"

日月光半導體（ASE）最近在他們位於大高雄地區的K7廠被抓包排放有毒化學污水後，登上了頭版。日月光隨後因牴觸水污染防治法被罰60萬新台幣。日月光去年因違反同樣的法規而被罰三次，許多人批評日月光就環境污染這點忽視了公眾安全。

日月光地下室中找到的水已經送檢，並超出了所有標準值。排放至後勁溪德明橋下那段的水，於十月一日的水質檢測中，測出高酸和高鎳的數值，而K7廠則為來源。K7廠是高雄排水量第九大的工廠。

高雄環保局局長陳金德說這間廠房展現了「蓄意的意圖」並指控他們在檢驗人員檢測時，使用自來水稀釋酸性廢水。

儘管這間廠房被勒令停止營運，他們主張說沒收到環保局的停業命令，並持續運作。

(Local) ASE Fined, Shows Disregard For Public Safety

Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc (ASE) has made headlines recently after its K7 factory, located in Greater Kaohsiung, was found to be leaking toxic chemical wastewater. The company has subsequently been fined NT$600,000 for contravening the Water Pollution Control Act. ASE was fined three times for the same violation last year, and many criticize its disregard for the publics safety in regards to environmental pollution.

Water found in the companys basement was tested and exceeded all standard levels. High levels of acidity and nickel were also found in discharge water taken from Houjin River under the Demin Bridge during a water quality inspection on Oct. 1, with the K7 factory being found to be the source. The factory is the ninth-largest discharger in Kaohsiung.

Director General of Greater Kaohsiungs Environmental Protection Bureau Chen Jin-de said the plant showed malicious intent and accused them of having used tap water to dilute the acidic wastewater when inspectors conducted tests.

Although the plant was ordered to halt operations, they claim they did not receive a suspension order from the bureau and have continued to operate.
