(Culture) The Incredible Rise of Jason Wu
The Taiwanese-born fashion designer may be young, but he has already become a beacon for a new generation of uptown designers.
Four years ago, Jason Wu was one of many New York designers struggling to get their designs noticed. However, a decision by First Lady Michelle Obama changed his life. Wu shot to stardom when she donned his gown to the first inauguration of Barack Obama in 2008.
In spite of the instant fame, Wu did not rest on his laurels. He managed to further prove himself as a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry when Michelle Obama wore his dress again to the 2013 inaugural ball. Now, at the age of 30, Wu is eager to expand his brand into a lifestyle empire.
Being a role model to many Taiwanese people, Wu attributes his success to his work ethic and family. The young designer said his hardworking attitude has enabled his company to be very efficient. Wu is also grateful for his encouraging and open-minded family who not only allowed him to pursue his interest, but also helped cultivate his talents in the field.
