Just a few kilometers off the coast of England, the Scilly Isles enjoy gorgeous climatic conditions.

Around 50 kilometers off the coast of Cornwall on Englands southwest coast lie the Scilly Isles, which are a glorious mix of old English charm and tropical influences. Walking around one of the archipelagos 5 inhabited islands, youll see village pubs and dry-stone walls alongside palm trees and clear blue seas. The rural islands are blessed with an unusually warm climate due to the Gulf Stream which brings weather up from the Caribbean.

The main island, St Marys, has a small airstrip, a hospital, and a host of B&Bs and cafes to cater to the thousands of tourists who make their way here each year. For a unique holiday experience, you could stay in Star Castle, which was built in 1593 in response to the unsuccessful attack by the Spanish Armada 5 years earlier.

Since many Scillonians dont regard St Marys as a genuine part of the island group, you might want to visit one of the other islands. Tresco, which is privately owned by the Dorrien-Smith family, features gorgeous white sandy beaches, areas of heath land, and the incredible Tresco Abbey Gardens, which are located in and around the ruins of a 10th century monastery.
