The photos were taken over 30 years ago, but have been lost to the world since then.

A series of photo portraits of Andy Warhol are set to go on show in New York for the first time. The pictures were taken by British photographer Steve Wood in 1981 V six years before Warhol died V and had then been left in Woods filing cabinet for over 30 years. The New York show will open in May and is being called Lost Then Found.

Warhol found fame in the 1960s with his pop art pictures. His work, which often used very bright colors, looked at the connection between art, advertising, and the cult of the celebrity. His most famous works were portraits of Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe and a picture of a can of Campbells soup.

Christopher Bollen, the current editor of Interview magazine, which was founded by Warhol in 1969, said of the photos that their fascinationKlies in the fact that just when you think all sides of Andy Warhol have been seen and mined, a rare intimate window opens on the legend. These photographs reveal a different Warhol than most of us have ever witnessed. Its a testament to the photographer and an opportunity to re-assess his bearing as one of the most influential artists of the last century.
