"海軍上將談及增設航空母艦"

宋學表示，新母艦將會比遼寧號還大。

人民解放軍海軍副參謀長宋學上週表示，中國將為其艦隊增加海軍航空母艦。海軍目前只有一艘母艦遼寧號，但皇家海軍上將宋學告訴外國駐華將官，他們將製造更新更大的母艦。在一場海軍成立64周年的紀念會上，他發言表示：「我們需要的下一艘航空母艦會更大，能夠承載更多戰鬥機。」

遼寧號船長張崢也出席紀念會，表示他的船員早已掌握船艦的武裝系統。張崢指出J-15戰鬥機成功起飛並降落在這艘船的跑道上，但他補充表示，在遼寧號全面運作之前還需要進行更多測試。

這艘母艦原本的設計允許承載30架固定翼的飛機，而張崢告訴外國駐華將官，這艘母艦將能承載戰鬥機、偵察機、反潛機、電子反制機和直升機。他補充表示未來中國的航空母艦還會伴隨著驅逐艦、巡防艦、潛艇和補給艦。

Song Xue says the new vessels will be bigger than the Liaoning.

Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) Navy Deputy Chief of Staff Song Xue said last week that China will be adding aircraft carriers to its fleet. The navy currently has one carrier, the Liaoning, but Real Admiral Song told foreign military attaches that new, larger vessels will be produced. Speaking at an event marking the 64th anniversary of the navys founding, he said: The next aircraft carrier we need will be larger and carry more fighters.

Captain Zhang Zheng of the Liaoning was also at the event, and he said that his crew had already mastered the ships weapons systems. Zhang noted that J-15 fighter airplanes had successfully taken off and landed on the ships runway, but he added that more tests would be needed before the Liaoning would be fully operational.

The vessels original designs allow it to carry 30 fixed-wing aircraft, and Zhang told foreign military attaches that the ship would carry fighters, reconnaissance aircraft, anti-submarine aircraft, electronic countermeasure (ECM) aircraft, and helicopters. He added that in the future, Chinese aircraft carriers would be accompanied by destroyers, frigates, submarines, and supply ships.
