Last Wednesday, Apple unveiled its latest tablet computer, which is known simply as the new iPad. The device is slightly heavier and thicker than the iPad 2, and it features a raft of updated functions. The display is sharper than ever and can compare to the retina display of the iPhone. The tablet also has a five megapixel camera sensor and 4G capabilities.

After the presentation, Apples share price remained flat, perhaps reflecting disappointment that the new device didnt have more revolutionary features. Analysts appeared to be impressed, although most said that they were expecting more. Michael Gartenberg noted that Id call the new iPad an evolutionary device with some revolutionary experiences.

The new iPad will go on sale on March 16, and the basic price will be US$499 V the same price as the companys second-generation tablet computer.
