(Politics)Khamenei Praises Obamas Words of Peace

The US president spoke about the possibility of resolving the Iranian nuclear crisis peacefully.

Irans supreme leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, last Thursday reacted positively to statements by US President Barack Obama, suggesting that America is not gearing up for war with the Middle Eastern nation. According to IRNA, the Iranian state news agency, Khamenei said: We heard two days ago that the U.S. president said that (they) are not thinking about war with Iran. These words are good words and an exit from delusion.

Tensions still run high, however, as the Western world grows increasingly concerned over Irans nuclear development. Irans leaders insist that their uranium enrichment program is for energy purposes, but many in the West fear the country is trying to make a nuclear weapon. The US and Europe have already imposed tough economic sanctions on Iran, and there have been suggestions that air strikes would follow.

Obama appeared to bring calm to the situation when he said on Tuesday that there existed a window of opportunity to resolve the crisis peacefully. He called on all sides involved in the dispute to use the time to increase their diplomatic efforts. A peaceful resolution was in everyones interests, he added.
