(Entertainment) Celebrities Back Protestors Actions

With the countrys future at stake, many high-profile celebrities have decided to stand up and be counted.

Since last week, the Legislative Yuan has been occupied by students in an unprecedented move to protest against what they believe is President Ma Ying-jeous administrations attempt to destroy Taiwan by pushing the controversial cross-strait service trade agreement through the legislature.

In the wake of the demonstration, many well-known celebrities have spoken out in favor of the students move. In particular, singer-songwriter Deserts Chang, indie singer-songwriter Crowd Lu and entertainer Chicken Cutlet Girl all showed up outside the legislature as a gesture of support.

Meanwhile, rock band Mayday has also become embroiled in the protest after the music video of their song Rise was posted on their official Facebook page. The bands fans in China were furious for they believe the video was a show of support for the anti-pact movement. Lead singer A-shin tried to explain, saying they are not against the pact and that they hope both sides of the Strait can work towards mutual understanding. However, the bands Taiwanese fans then accused him of not standing by his principles.
