"中國建議馬習會的「第三個地點」"

根據中國海峽兩岸關係協會（ARATS）的副會長孫亞夫表示，中臺領導人之間的高峰會有舉行「第三地」會議的可能。儘管地點尚未定案，但中國希望「海峽兩岸能夠為了此會談找個地點」。

然而，民進黨發言人林俊憲看來對那句話的確切意義感到不解，他說：「句中『第三地』的定義為何？是指第三個國家嗎？還是像香港、澳門這樣的海峽兩岸第三領地。」林俊憲也表示馬政府進行兩岸事務時應該要更公開透明，讓大眾得知進展，而且「總統代表了國家，必須堅持臺灣的主權」。

臺灣的陸委會表示年度的亞太經合會將是最適合馬習會的場合。不過中國的領導人對此意見反應冷淡，因為這可能會加強了臺灣的主權。讓馬英九總統於國際會議中出場可能會給外界此種印象，而中國過去不斷阻擋臺灣總統與會，並強迫臺灣改派大使參會。

(Politics) Beijing Suggests Third Location For Ma-Xi Meeting

According to Chinas Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) Vice Chairman Sun Yafu, a summit between the leaders of China and Taiwan includes the possibility of a third-location meeting. Although a location has not yet been determined, Beijing hopes, for the two sides of the Strait to find a place for the meeting.

Lin Chun-hsien, Democratic Progressive Party spokesman, appeared unclear as to the exact meaning of the statement, however, saying, Whats the definition of a third location? Does it mean a third country or a cross-strait third territory, such as Hong Kong or Macau? Lin also stated that the Ma administration should conduct cross-strait affairs in a transparent manner by keeping the public informed of developments and that, the president represents the country and must uphold Taiwans sovereignty.

Taiwans Mainland Affairs Council stated that the annual APEC forum would be the most appropriate place for a Ma-Xi meeting. Leaders in Beijing, however, have been cool in regards to the idea due to the fact that it could give the impression of Taiwans sovereignty. Having Ma appear at an international gathering could give that impression, and in the past China has consistently blocked Taiwans presidents from attending and forced them to send envoys instead.
