"赴美深造台生持續減少"

看來現在越來越少台灣人到美國深造了。

台灣學生申請去美國深造的數量連續掉了六年。根據國際教育協會的調查指出，學生數量跟前個學年相比掉了5.9%到21867人，延續了始於2007－2008這個學年的下滑趨勢。

即便如此，跟前一年相比，台灣雖然在美國國際學生來源中下滑了一名，但仍維持第六大國的位置。更甚者，決定留在美國工作的學生人數去年也稍稍增加。

總體來說，來自中國的學生占了美國國際學生的大多數，跟去年同期相比今年飆升21%，人數達到了23.5萬人。同時，來自印度和南韓的學生分別位居第二第三。

根據美國商務部所說，美國國際學生持續成長對該國有正面的經濟影響，為美國經濟貢獻了超過240億美金。

(Education) Number of Taiwanese Students in US Continues to Fall

Apparently, fewer and fewer Taiwanese people are furthering their education in the US.

The number of Taiwanese students enrolled in higher education in the US has declined for the sixth straight year. According to a report by the Institute of International Education, student numbers dropped by 5.9 percent from the previous academic year to 21,867, continuing a downward trend that began in the 2007 to 2008 academic year.

Even so, Taiwan remains the sixth-largest country of origin of international students in the US, after sliding one place down in rankings a year earlier. Moreover, the number of students who decided to stay and work in the US saw a slight increase last year.

On the whole, students from China made up the majority of the international students in the US, with the number reaching 235,000 after surging 21 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, students from India and South Korea placed second and third respectively.

According to the US Department of Commerce, continued growth in international students in the US has had a positive economic impact on the country, contributing over US$24 billion to its economy.
