Daniel Radcliffe is expanding his acting abilities by taking on another tough theater role.

After appearing as Harry Potter in eight of the biggest movies ever made, it was always going to be difficult for Daniel Radcliffe to escape the shadow of the boy wizard. In a bid to shake off his most famous role and be taken seriously as an adult actor, he has appeared in a number of plays and achieved critical success on Broadway and Londons West End. Hes now back on the stage in London, and this time, hes starring as a disabled orphan.

Radcliffe is in the leading role in Martin McDonaghs acclaimed play The Cripple of Inishmaan, and the critics have mostly been positive about his performances. In the Guardian, Michael Billington said of the production that its a knowing play but one which Radcliffe invests with a sense of real feeling.

In a sign that Radcliffe is an actor with a complete range of ability, Henry Hitchings wrote in the Standard that Radcliffes desire to challenge himself is admirable, as is his refusal to milk his part and instead deliver a performance of moving modesty.
