(Local) Foreign Reporters Visit Chinese Achievement Exhibition
The show dealt with the countrys scientific development over the last 10 years.
Foreign journalists last Wednesday toured an exhibition showing off Chinas achievements over the last 10 years. The show is called Scientific Development and Splendid Achievements, and while it mostly consists of photos, it also contains videos and models. The exhibition had already been visited by President Hu Jintao and is scheduled to remain open until November 26.
In total, there were 33 journalists from outside China, including writers from Japan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Qi Jige from Macao Monthly said: Im interested in Chinas achievements in science and technology and proud of them. Kou Dan-dan from Macao Asia Satellite TV added that Chinas advances in these areas had meant Macao could develop a new service industry. Joe Wu, a Hong Kong producer with i-Cable Television noted Chinas rise and said: Every time I come to Beijing, I can find changes.
One of the focuses of the exhibition was the emergence of China as a major spacefaring nation. In addition to photos of the countrys space missions, there were also models of Chinese spaceships and the actual space suit worn by Yang Liwei, the first Chinese person to go into space.
