"中書法家義賣籌建圖書館"

中國書法家蘇士澍和台灣的書法家劉藝捐出書畫拍賣所得人民幣300萬元，為的是要讓花蓮縣秀林鄉能夠興建社區圖書館。文瀾村當地的學生和民眾若要到圖書館看書，就得到北邊50公里外的秀林村去，十分不便，因此計劃興建社區圖書館。

這座圖書館預計五月開工，年底可盼完工，但這筆300萬人民幣的捐款，其實只夠用於圖書館的硬體設施，館內的書籍和電腦軟體等的設施經費目前還沒有著落，依然需要各界的捐助。

為這計畫引介書法家的立法委員高金素梅表示，由於爸爸是安徽人，媽媽是原住民，讓她因此有為兩岸交流出一份心力的念頭，也希望這座圖書館的設置能夠讓當地的原住民小朋友學習書法，讓書法向下紮根。

Chinese calligrapher Su Shi Shu and Taiwanese calligrapher Liu Yi donated the RMB3 million they earned from the auctioning of their paintings and calligraphy in order to help build a community library in Shulin Township in Hualien County. If the students and people who live in Wenlan Village want to read books at a library, they have to travel to Shulin Village, which is 50km north. Due to this inconvenience, they are planning to build a community library.

They plan to start building this library in May and hope to finish construction by the end of the year. However, this RMB3 million donation is only enough to build the facilities in the library. The funds for the books and computer software in the library have not been accounted for and still require more aid.

Legislator Kao Chin Shumei, who introduced the calligraphers to the project, says that because her father is from Anhui Province and her mother is an aborigine, she has the desire to promote cross-strait exchanges. She hopes the establishment of this library can allow the local aboriginal children to learn calligraphy and enable calligraphy to become engrained in their lives.
