Touted as a device that could change the internet, the new AdTrap device, at a cost of approximately US$139, could be just what you need to stop all those annoying internet ads. The company, parented by Blueprint Security (a mobile antivirus software firm) has a motto that states, The internet is yours again, and seeks to recreate the internet of the past V with zero advertisements.

Developed by Chad Russel and Charles Butkus, AdTrap intercepts online advertisements before they reach any devices that access your Internet connection. This allows users to surf the internet and stream videos without being interrupted by any ads. What makes AdTrap different from browser plug-ins is that AdTrap is not limited to any particular browser or individual device.

The units began shipping in August of this year and come in a rectangular box that looks similar to a wireless router.

Not everyone is happy about the development, however, as ad companies, and the revenue they generate, could become seriously affected. Companies that use ad-generated models may begin to suffer as a consequence.
