"台灣學生英文寫作技巧不佳"

在四項基本語言能力中，台灣學生最不擅於寫作。

根據英國文化協會公布的2012年雅思測驗結果，台灣學生平均分數5.9，超越日本和中國、跟南韓打平、並落於香港之後。協會的測驗服務經理張卓表示，平均分數5.9，人們出國念大學或研究所時溝通應該不成問題。

數據也顯示亞洲人相對於寫作和口說的部份，聽讀方面表現比較優秀。另外，台灣學生通常寫申論題時表現較差。張卓認為這是因為台灣人比較不擅長用英語思考、組織想法，清楚並有條理地表達想法。

張卓也說英語寫作要進步不難，而關鍵就是「要用英語母語者的思考方式」。她建議人們經常閱讀英語新聞來增廣見聞並且試著跟朋友用英語溝通。隨著時間過去，學習者使用英語的能力就會更加熟練。

(Education) Taiwanese Students Demonstrate Poor English Writing Skills

Among the four basic language skills, Taiwanese students are worst in writing.

According to the 2012 International English Language Testing System exam results released by the British Council, Taiwanese students achieved an average score of 5.9, surpassing Japan and China while being on par with Korea and falling behind Hong Kong. Zoe Zhang, examinations services manager at the council, says with an average score of 5.9, people should have no problem communicating when pursuing their college or postgraduate degree overseas.

The statistics also revealed that Asians tend to perform better in the listening and reading sections as opposed to the writing and speaking sections. Moreover, Taiwanese students generally fall short on the argumentative essay writing task. Zhang believes this is because the Taiwanese are less capable of thinking in English, organizing their ideas and conveying them clearly and coherently.

Zhang also says it is not hard to improve your English writing and that the key is to think like a native speaker. She advises people to regularly read English news articles to gain new knowledge and try to converse with friends in English. Over time, learners will develop competence in using English.
