(健康) 哪個比較健康──咖啡還是茶?

不可否認地茶和咖啡最是具有文化影響力、並且是世上最常被攝取的飲料,但哪個比較健康?

如果除去了所有的「添加物」──糖、奶、奶精、蜂蜜、調味料等等,會剩下甚麼?

茶是世上消耗量第二大的飲料,排在水之後。一般來說,茶以類黃酮的形式含有抗氧化劑。依葉子的處理方式和茶葉自身的品質不同,健康益處也會不同,但是茶葉獲譽為能夠預防癌症,及透過降低膽固醇、避免血栓來對抗心血管疾病、有助於阿茲海默症,甚至是擊退過敏或是發炎反應。

咖啡也含有抗氧化劑,以像是奎寧和綠原酸的形式存在。抗菌化合物葫蘆巴鹼則賦予了咖啡香氣。研究顯示咖啡也有抗癌能力,並且能夠有助於抗肝癌、結腸癌、帕金森氏症、第二型糖尿病和痛風。

許多研究比較了兩者的咖啡因含量,兩者的含量不一,會依沖泡方式和豆子/葉子品種不同而有差異,咖啡因含量的影響因素太多了讓人幾乎不可能指出哪一個比較健康,所以適度才是關鍵。

這帶出了甚麼樣的結論?大多人會說就健康而論,兩者不分軒輊。我建議一天以一杯咖啡開始,然後下午改喝茶來顧好身體的一切!

There is no denying that tea and coffee are the most culturally influential and consumed beverages in the world, but which is healthier?

If one takes away all the add-ons V sugar, milk, cream, honey, flavorings etc, what is left?

Tea is the worlds second-largest consumed beverage worldwide, after water. In general, tea contains antioxidants in the form of flavonoids. Depending on how the leaves are processed, and the quality of tea leaves themselves, the health benefits vary, but are touted as preventing cancer and heart disease by lowering cholesterol, preventing blood clots, helping with Alzheimers disease and even fighting allergies or inflammation.

Coffee also contains antioxidants, in forms such as quinine and chlorogenic acid. The anti-bacterial compound trigonelline gives it its aroma. Research shows coffee also has cancer preventing abilities and may assist with liver cancer, colon cancer, Parkinsons disease, type II diabetes and gout.

While many studies compare caffeine, which varies in both depending on brewing method and type of bean/leaves, the diversity makes it almost impossible to state which is healthier, so moderation is key.

So where does that leave us? Most would suggest a tie in terms of health. I suggest starting the day off with a cup of coffee, and switching to tea later in the afternoon in order to cover all your bases!
