The retired English soccer player was in the Florida recently to talk about the creation of a new MLS team.

David Beckham may have recently retired from professional soccer, but that doesnt mean hell be stepping away from the game. Among the projects the English star now has his sights on is the creation of a new team to play in Americas MLS league. To further his plans, Beckham traveled to Miami last week to look at stadia and meet with local politicians.

After visiting the Miami Dolphins Sun Life stadium, which has a capacity of 75,000 fans, and the 20,000-capacity stadium at Florida International University, Beckham said: I think Miami fans are very passionate about their sports and very passionate about winning, adding: It's definitely exciting.

Its not known whether Beckham will definitely start a new team in Miami, as he is thought to have other options available, but local leaders are hopeful. Miami-Dade Sports Commission Executive Director Jose Sotolongo said: The city of Miami has a very international fan base and a very soccer savvy fan base. This is the kind of ownership group that would electrify the community and hopefully we will get good news.
