(Technology) First Man on the Moon Dies at 82

The man who made a giant leap for mankind has passed away.

Neil Armstrong, known as the first man to walk on the moon as the commander of the Apollo 11 mission, died at the age of 82. His family announced in a statement that Armstrong died following a heart surgery, and they asked that the world honor his achievement and humility as well as remember him upon the sight of the moon.

Armstrong and his fellow astronauts daring journey to the moon back in 1969 awed an estimated 600 million people, which is the largest audience ever recorded for any single event. The people held their breath in front of televisions to witness the historic moment, as Armstrong set foot on the moons surface.

NASA chief Charles Bolden responded to the sad news, saying, As long as there are history books, Neil Armstrong will be included in them, remembered for taking humankinds first small step on a world beyond our own. US President Barack Obama also hailed Armstrong as one of Americas greatest heroes of all time.
