"中國下令更精準的空氣品質測試"

大眾長久以來一直對中國的空氣污染有強烈的抗議。週三中國內閣介紹了新的空氣品質標準。由環保人士所要求的這項新措施將在2013年之前於113個城市內實施。

當局被迫要改變現存的系統，因為它似乎無效。汙染程度經常被形容為「輕度」，但是該區卻籠罩在煙霧當中。目前還不清楚北京和上海何時會採用新的污染檢測方法。

一般認為如果開始使用新的汙染檢測系統，只有20%的中國城市會測得令人滿意的空氣品質。目前根據舊的標準，80%的中國城市都有令人滿意的空氣品質。

內閣會議建議移除會增加汙染的老舊科技。同時也決定要嘗試減少工業造成的汙染，像是能源、鋼鐵、建築材料和化學物質等產業。

(Local)China Orders More Accurate Tests to Measure Air Quality

There has been a public outcry about air pollution in China. New air quality standards have been introduced by Chinas cabinet on Wednesday. This new measure, which has been demanded by environmental campaigners, will also be insisted on in 113 cities by 2013.

Authorities were forced to change the current system as it seemed to not be working. Often pollution levels were described as slight, but instead, the region was covered in smog. It is still not clear when Beijing and Shanghai will adopt the new method of reading pollution.

It is believed that if this new pollution measurement system is put into place, only 20 % of Chinese cities would be rated as having satisfactory air. At the moment 80% of all Chinese cities appear to have satisfactory air quality according to the old standards.

The cabinet meeting suggested the removal of old technology which could add to pollution. It also decided to try to cut down on pollution in industries such as energy, steel, building materials and chemicals.
