著名劇作家奧斯卡王爾德的墓碑已修繕完畢，並公諸於世。之所以需要修繕工作是因為數以千名王爾德的愛慕者在這塊紀念碑上親吻，而她們的唇膏侵蝕了這塊碑石。由現代派雕刻家賈可伯艾普斯坦雕塑的墓碑，現在已用玻璃屏障圍住，避免再次被民眾親吻。據報王爾德的愛慕者已開始在附近的一棵樹上留下唇印。

雖然王爾德是愛爾蘭人，但他在巴黎度過生命中的最後幾年，逝世並於此下葬。英國演員暨劇作家魯伯特愛瑞特前往法國首都，於典禮上發言，對於王爾德發表意見：他認為「他非常具有啟發性而且感動人，不僅是因為他的聰慧，某方面來說，也在於他的愚笨。」

The monument has also been surrounded with a protective glass barrier.

The gravestone of legendary playwright Oscar Wilde has been renovated and unveiled to the public. Restoration work was needed because thousands of Wildes fans had kissed the monument, and their lipstick was eating away the stone.The gravestone, which was sculpted by Modernist sculptor Jacob Epstein, has now been surrounded by a glass barrier to stop people kissing it again. Wildes fans have reportedly already started leaving lipstick marks on a nearby tree.

Although Wilde was Irish, he spent the final few years of his life in Paris, and it is there that he died and was buried. The English actor and playwright Rupert Everett traveled to the French capital to speak at the ceremony, and he said of Wilde that he finds him very inspiring and touching, not just for his genius, also for his stupidity, in a way.

Wildes grandson Merlin Holland thanked the Irish government for paying for the restoration work. The royalties on Oscar Wilde's works disappeared many, many years ago, and there's no way I could possibly have raised the money to do this myself.On a lighter note, he added: If my grandfather had been here he would have loved the attention.
