Oil Painting Dual Exhibition by Lin Jintian and Kuo Chang-tsung Opens in Vancouver
Presented by the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Society (TCCS), Island Duets: Oil Painting Dual Exhibition by Lin Jintian and Kuo Chang-tsung will be held at the TCCS Art Gallery in Vancouver from September 2 to September 16, 2026. An Opening Tea Reception will take place at 2:00 PM on September 2.
Under the theme “The Face and Spirit of Formosa,”the exhibition brings together two distinguished Taiwanese artists with contrasting yet complementary artistic visions.
Lin Jintian, former Vice Minister of Culture of Taiwan, devoted many years to cultural administration and the promotion of the arts. Since retirement, he has focused on painting, creating expressive abstract works that embody the emotional and spiritual landscape of Taiwan. His exhibitions have received acclaim both in Taiwan and abroad.
Kuo Chang-tsung, a graduate of the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University, taught art for twenty-five years and participated extensively in international art education and cultural exchange programs. In recent years, he has concentrated on the cultures of Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples, portraying their vitality and cultural richness through bold colors, powerful brushwork, and large-scale oil paintings. His works have been widely exhibited and collected by major institutions.
Founded in 1991, the Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Society has long been dedicated to fostering cultural and artistic exchange between Taiwan and Canada. The TCCS Art Gallery has become an important exhibition venue for Chinese and Taiwanese artists in Vancouver.
Through a dialogue between abstraction and representation, inner vision and outward image, Island Duets offers a compelling interpretation of Taiwan’s diverse cultural identity. Art lovers and members of the public are warmly invited to experience this unique artistic journey from Formosa.
