Taiwan-Denmark Environmental Education Workshop – Novel Style of Teaching Inspires Participants in Taichung

(中央社訊息服務20161109 09:18:37)The second stop of the Taiwan-Denmark Environmental Education Workshop reached Taichung on November 7th. More than 70 participants signed up, backgrounds ranging from environmental education field and facilities, community environmental education centers to ecological schools, low-carbon model communities, and even students and enterprises.

The target issue to work on in this workshop, air pollution, was decided based on a survey the participants filled out when signing up. The Danish team of INDEX: Design To Improve Life guided the participants to come up with innovative solutions to this challenge by working with pictures and visualizing abstract concepts. Participants got to experience the Nordic style of teaching and the use of the “design compass” as a tool to enhance teamwork and create motivation. Challenging the traditional Taiwanese teaching style, participants were highly inspired by this experience. The final presentation saw highly creative solutions amid a lively atmosphere. The INDEX team also approved of the positive attitude of Taiwanese environmental educators.

The two remaining stops of the Taiwan-Denmark Environmental Education Workshop will be in Yilan and Taipei. The team of INDEX: Design To Improve Life will continue to inspire Taiwanese environmental educators by bringing in novel concepts to environmental education in Taiwan.
