"中國海龜盜獵者在菲律賓被逮，讓局勢緊繃"

菲律賓檢察長以在極具爭議的中國南海區域觸犯了環境法來起訴九名中國漁民，也逮捕了兩名未成年人，他們將遣返回國而不會有任何罪名。此舉預計將造成中國和其鄰國對於政治敏感地區的情勢進一步緊繃，中國已經警告菲律賓此舉將對兩國關係造成嚴重後果。警方表示船上有著數以百計的海龜（保育類），而許多都已經死亡。

菲律賓檢察長Allan Ross Rodriguez表示：「很明顯：有艘漁船、有中國漁民、還有遭捕的（保育）海龜。據負責逮捕的官員所說，結果十分顯而易見。」根據菲律賓的法律規定，那九名漁民將以違反盜獵法還有捕捉保育類物種的罪名被起訴，而且若是捕捉「稀有、受威脅或是瀕臨絕種」物種的罪名成立，他們可能會面臨高達20年的牢獄之災以及大筆罰款。菲律賓的法律規定，盜獵可罰高達20萬美金。

中國外交部和駐菲中國大使館對此回應說中國對那些男子被逮捕的淺灘有「無可爭辯的主權」，而菲律賓政府應該「停止會傷害雙方關係的更加挑釁行動」。

(International) Chinese Turtle Poachers Caught In Philippines, Raises Tension

Philippine prosecutors have charged nine Chinese fishermen, as well as apprehended two minors who will be repatriated without charges, with environmental crimes in the largely-disputed South China Sea. The move is expected to cause further tension between China and its neighbors in the politically tense area, with Beijing having already warned the Philippines that the move will have a dire effect on relations between the two countries. Policemen have stated that the vessel contained hundreds of sea turtles, a protected species, many of which were already dead.

Philippine prosecutor Allan Ross Rodriguez stated, It is clear: there was a fishing vessel, Chinese fishermen, a catch of protected sea turtles. It is clear from what the apprehending officers said. According to Philippine law, the nine fishermen will be charged with violating laws against poaching and catching protected species, and if found guilty of collecting rare, threatened or endangered species, they could face up to 20 years in prison and substantial fines. Under Philippine law, poaching is punishable by fines of up to US$200,000.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinas embassy in Manila have responded by stating that it has indisputable sovereignty over the shoal where the men were arrested, and that the Philippine authorities should stop taking further provocative action that harms their relations.
