Many people who have problems with their weight will tell you that the real problem with weight control is not losing excess fat but keeping it off permanently. Not many people have the time or inclination to jog every day for the rest of their lives, and even fewer would want to abstain from carbs forever. Some exercise experts say that the answer could be Pilates.

Pilates was developed by an injured soldier, Joe Pilates, and it works by slowly strengthening your body, especially your core muscles. Although it will, eventually, leave you feeling much stronger, it wont give you the pumped body of a weightlifter. Practitioners say that in addition to helping your body, Pilates gives you a great sense of wellbeing.

Many Pilates teachers say that one of the best things about the activity is that it puts your body in touch with your mind. This means that you will be able to target the problems that cause you stress and leave you tired. Anyone looking for a quick fix, though, might want to try something else. Pilates is something that requires time before you reap the full benefits.
