"車臣人的逆襲"

俄羅斯最近連續發生多起爆炸案，主謀鎖定在高加索區的穆斯林組織。由於冬季奧運即將在2014年2月初於俄羅斯的素溪舉辦，此地點離北高加索地區不遠，這也使得冬奧的安全維護相當困難。

高加索曾是由車臣人自組而成的國家──車臣共和國所在地。但在19世紀被俄羅斯帝國侵佔後，車臣人就一直想要脫離俄羅斯的控制。但即使歷經沙皇、共產乃至於今日的俄羅斯聯邦，車臣人仍無法脫離控制而重建自己的國家。

現任俄羅斯總理普丁以武力手段，強行嚇阻聯邦境內任何地區的分離主義者，包含車臣在內。政府當局已加派數萬名的士兵、警察與維安人員，前往素溪地區進行清查，並建立安全管制區域，以避免類似的恐怖攻擊事件，影響到冬季奧運的進行，以及主辦單位與選手們的人身安全。

(International) The Chechens Are Fighting Back

Russia has been rocked by a series of explosions lately, and it is believed that the Muslim group based in Caucasus is behind the attacks. The fact that the 2014 Winter Olympics is due to be held in early February in the Russian city of Sochi, which is not too far from the Northern Caucasus, has made it relatively difficult to maintain security of the Winter Olympics.

Caucasus used to be a country formed by the Chechens, called Chechnya. However, ever since the country was taken over by the Russian Empire in the 19th century, the Chechens have been trying to break free from Russias control. Nonetheless, efforts to rebuild their country have been to no avail in spite of the collapse of the tsarist autocracy, fall of communism in the country and birth of todays Russian Federation.

Current prime minister of Russia Vladimir Putin has been using military force to deter crime by separatists, including the Chechens, in the country. The local government has deployed tens of thousands of soldiers, police and security personnel to Sochi to conduct inspections and set up a security zone in order to prevent similar terrorist attacks from taking place, disrupting the Olympic Winter Games and putting the lives of organizers and contestants at risk.
