"新一代USB正反兩面都能插"

在使用一些USB周邊設備時，您是否有時因為正反兩面的問題，在電腦背板上插個老半天呢？USB推廣協會日前宣布，為了讓使用者更為便利地使用USB，USB自下一代的3.1版開始，將推出正反面皆相容的連接設計。

由於蘋果在最新一代的iPad與iPod，推出不分方向的Lightning插頭後，受到廣大使用者的讚賞，因此USB協會決定改善現有的USB。在新的USB 3.1版本中，不但可更快速地傳輸資訊與影音檔案，另外還增加電力輸出，以解決過去許多USB周邊設備電力不足而要另外插電的困擾。而舊的USB 2.0週邊設備仍可相容於新的3.1版本。

USB3.0推廣協會成員包括了惠普（HPQ-US）、英特爾（INTC-US）、微軟（MSFT-US）、瑞薩電子（6723-JP）、德州儀器（TXN-US）等世界大廠。預計採用USB 3.1規格的新產品，將於2014年中問市。

When using USB devices, have you ever spent a long time trying to connect the cable to your computer because you could not figure out which way it went?The USB 3.0 Promoter Group recently announced that the next-generation USB 3.1 connector will come with a reversible design, meaning it will be able to fit both ways, making it more user-friendly.

The fact that Apples new generation iPad and iPod have received high praise from users for using the new reversible Lightning connector has prompted the USB 3.0 Promoter Group to make improvements to the current version of USB. The new USB 3.1 connector will not only allow for faster transfer of data and audio and video files, but also increased power output, which will solve the previous problem of numerous USB devices not having enough power to operate and needing to rely on alternative power supply. In addition, it is said that the USB 3.1 specification will still be compatible with USB 2.0 peripherals.

The USB 3.0 Promoter Group is comprised of a number of major global companies, including Hewlett-Packard Company, Intel Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, Renesas Electronics and Texas Instruments. It is expected that new products using the USB 3.1 connector will make their debut in mid-2014.
