(Life) Changing Room Rage Affects 75% of Women

A new study concludes that poor-quality changing rooms are damaging shoppers self-esteem and can make them angry. According to a new study, around three quarters of women experience changing room rage when they go out shopping. Changing rooms can be inhospitable places as they are often rather small, are sometimes used to store excess stock, and rarely provide enough security or privacy. As a result, shoppers can be left feeling angry or disappointed, and its not uncommon for people to vent their frustrations on shop staff or to lose self-confidence.

The recent study involved 1,200 women and was conducted by the online shopping site isme.com.

About 75% of the women interviewed said they no longer try on clothes in shops because they do not feel comfortable in the changing rooms. In addition, 58% of women said that visiting a changing room left them disappointed while 48% said they felt frustrated.

Responding to the findings, psychologist Susan Quilliam said: Beautiful clothes will always make a woman feelKmore optimistic in general. But if the shopping experience itself is negative, the whole event can be utterly destructive. Instead of boosting our self-esteem, it saps it; instead of making us feel good about ourselves and our lives, it brings up frustration, irritation and anger.
