(Local) Chinas Consumers Want More Luxuries

People are confident about the job market and are prepared to spend more money as a result.

Chinas economic rise has had a number of consequences, and one of the biggest is the rate at which local people are now buying luxury items. According to a recent survey conducted by the Nielsen Company, people are spending a lot more on high-end products. This might include food and beverages, fashion items, home products, and vehicles.

Chinas purchasing power is represented by its current consumer confidence index of 108, which is 15 points higher than the global average. Any score above 100 shows that consumers feel good about the future outlook, while scores below 100 are a sign that consumers are pessimistic. In addition, the countrys consumer willingness index has moved to its highest level in over two years.

Nielsons president for the Greater China region, Yan Xuan, noted that Chinese people are more confident about the job market and are therefore prepared to spend more money. According to the companys survey, 53% of people earning 10,000 to 30,000 yuan (US$1,615 to $4,845) would spend 250,000 to 500,000 yuan on a car.
