"微軟欲將平板電腦Surface縮小為七吋"

微軟將加入有利可圖的小型平板電腦市場的謠言已終於證實。

微軟最近公布要發行該公司平板電腦Surface的較小版本，來對抗蘋果電腦的iPad Mini和亞馬遜的Kindle Fire。與華爾街分析師電話會談後，該公司的財務長彼得克萊茵說，新一系列的設備將在未來幾個月上市，且價格實惠。

有鑒於該公司平板電腦Surface令人失望的銷售數字，以及Windows 8軟體的低迷需求，克萊茵說，公司希望能透過推出更便宜的設備，來增加市佔率。

這個新聞並不是很令人驚訝，因為早已有謠言指出，這個科技巨頭的下一個操作系統，代號為「藍色」，將支援更小的平板。該公司之前要求製造商要在Windows 8的觸控面板包含新的解析度──1024 x 768像素。

(Technology) Microsoft to Shrink Its Surface to 7 Inches

Rumors that Microsoft will join the lucrative small tablet market have finally been confirmed.

Microsoft recently revealed plans to launch a smaller version of its Surface tablet to take on Apples iPad Mini and Amazons Kindle Fire. Speaking to Wall Street analysts on a conference call, the companys CFO, Peter Klein, said the new line of devices will hit the market in the coming months at affordable prices.

In light of the disappointing sales of its Surface tablet and weak demand for its Windows 8 software, Klein said that the company hopes to grow market share through introducing cheaper devices.

The news did not come as a great surprise for there had already been rumors that the tech giants next operating system, codenamed Blue, will support smaller tablets. The company previously asked manufacturers to include a new resolution for Windows 8 touch screen devices V 1024 x 768 pixels.
