The LA star scored 38 to help his team beat Dallas.

Kobe Bryant overshadowed Dirk Nowitzki as the LA Lakers edged the Dallas Mavericks 103-99 on Sunday night in Dallas. The star players were both in fine form as their teams struggle to qualify for the playoffs, hitting eight of nine three-point attempts between them. Bryant won the battle, though, scoring 38 points to Nowitzkis 30.

Talking after the game about playing against the big European player, Bryant said: Its fun. Hes one of my all-time favorites. Hes a throwback type of player. He doesnt mind the physicality. He made some incredible plays down the stretch. Nowitzki was equally complimentary, saying: Hes been the best player in my decadeK. Hes the one player I love to watch.

Steve Nash also had a good night, scoring 20 points for the first time since he joined the Lakers. The former Mavericks star got most of his points in the second half, and Bryant praised his teammate, saying: He came on in the second half and really gave us a big boost. He was very aggressive and it forced them to make changes defensively.
