(Health) A Juicy Way to Good Health
Juicing is being touted as the newest health craze, but is it actually good for you? According to new research, the answer is yes!
Many, if not all, health advisers recommend a person consume 6-8 servings of vegetables a day. On average, most people consume much less, and juicing is an ideal way for people to increase their vegetable intake without adding extra calories, fat or unwanted pounds.
Juicing breaks foods down into macro-nutrients, which are easier for our bodies to absorb. As a result, a person gets more nutrition from juice than they would eating actual food. Plus, a person can mix many different vegetables into one juice V therefore consuming a larger amount of nutrients in a way that they could not achieve by eating a regular meal. For example, a person may not cook or consume a meal consisting of cucumber, celery, pineapple, cabbage, spinach, sweet potato leaves, and other leafy greens in one sitting. However, drinking a juice consisting of these in one sitting is entirely possible V and delicious!
Juicing is not meant to replace eating food, (fiber and other nutrients such as protein and fat are not found in juice) but, rather, to supplement a persons diet by giving them an extra nutritional boost. When juicing, its important to juice fresh vegetables and fruits (organic whenever possible) and consume the juice shortly after so that no oxidation occurs or vitamins and enzymes are lost.
