"以色列男子發明紙板腳踏車"

一位住在以色列名為加弗尼的男子發明了一輛可上路的腳踏車，整台車幾乎全由厚紙板所做成。這輛車防水、防火，且只要價約20美元左右。完工後，腳踏車將完全沒有金屬部分，即便是輪子和踏板也將由回收物做成。他也創造出紙板輪椅，預計在一年內可問世。

50歲的加弗尼表示：「我一直相當著迷於將非傳統科技應用到材料上，我也曾嘗試過幾次……這花了我一年半時間，經歷許多測試和失敗才成功。」

加弗尼被視為自動化量產線的設計專家，腳踏車的生產將在約兩個月內動工。他希望這項發明能轉變世界各地的交通習慣，幫助生活在壅塞城市和貧窮國家的人們。

若他的腳踏車成功，就有可能有更多厚紙板製成的產品相繼推出。加弗尼的夥伴埃爾米許也說：「這真的是個改變遊戲規則的發明。」他並預測在紙板產品的生產和工廠製造未來將會有巨大的改變。

對「綠」產品來說，這絕對是一大加分，產品的低成本將使更多人能取得生產材料。

(Business) Israeli Man Invents Cardboard Bicycle

An Israel-based man named Izhar Gafni has invented a working bicycle made almost entirely out of cardboard. The bicycle is waterproof, fireproof, and will cost somewhere in the range of US$20. When completed, the bike will have no metal parts, even the wheels and pedals will be made of recycled substances. A cardboard wheelchair is also being created and is expected to be available in a year.

Gafni, 50, states, I was always fascinated by applying unconventional technologies to materials and I did this on several occasions...It took a year and half, with lots of testing and failure until I got it right.

Gafni is considered an expert in designing automated mass-production lines, and production of the bikes will begin in about two months. He hopes that this invention will transform transportation habits around the world, helping those in congested cities and poor countries.

If his bicycle is a success, more cardboard-based products may follow. Nimrod Elmish, Gafnis partner, has stated, This is a real game-changer, and predicts major changes in production and factory manufacturing in the future based on cardboard products.

This is a definite plus in terms of green based products, and the low cost of products will enable more people access to materials produced.
