底特律老虎隊挺進大聯盟世界大賽。

上週底特律老虎隊以8比1擊敗紐約洋基隊，達成四場完封，也今年世界大賽保住一席之地。薛瑟拿下本場比賽的勝投，一直到第六局為止都沒有被擊出安打。老虎隊的進攻也一樣強勁，卡布雷拉和普羅塔在第四局分別敲出兩分全壘打。

Detroit advances to the MLB World Series.

The Detroit Tigers last week beat the New York Yankees 8-1 to complete a four-game sweep and secure a place in this years World Series. Max Scherzer was the winning pitcher, and he didnt give up a single hit until the sixth inning. The Tigers offense was also strong, with Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta both hitting two-run homers in the fourth inning.

Detroit will face either the St. Louis Cardinals or San Francisco Giants in the World Series. The two National League sides were tied 3-3 in their best-of-seven series. The decisive game was scheduled for October 22. After the game against the Yankees, Cabrera shouted: Yeah, we did it. It's an unbelievable feeling.... Four more wins, guys. Four more wins.

For the Yankees, its another season of disappointment and another year of soul-searching. At US$222 million, New York has the highest payroll in baseball, but the team consistently fails when the pressure is on in the postseason. There are also signs that some of the teams biggest stars, like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera, may be feeling the signs of age, as they both sat out postseason games with injuries.
