(Life) Daniel Pearl Day Event Takes Place in Taipei
Daniel Pearl was an American journalist and musician who was kidnapped while working as the South Asia Bureau Chief of the Wall street Journal. He was later murdered by his captors. However, rather than focusing on the tragedy of his death, people have chosen to celebrate his life and accomplishments through a yearly event held in over one hundred countries. This event is aptly known as Daniel Pearl Day. Taipeis Daniel Pearl Day will take place on October 20th. Its a free festival that will feature bands, food and drink vendors, performance art, speeches, and various stalls selling their wares. The event hopes to promote peace and address the root causes of this tragedy, in the spirit, style and principles that shaped Dannys work and character.
Dialogue Example:
(Daniel Pearl Day) Joshua and Kate are friends. Joshua is inviting Kate to join him at the Daniel Pearl Day Event in Taiwan. Lets listen to their conversation.
Joshua: Hey, Kate! Do you have any plans for this Saturday? I was thinking you might want to go to the Daniel Pearl Day event with me.
Kate: Daniel Pearl Day? Whats that?
Joshua: Its a really cool music event to commemorate Daniel Pearl. He was a famous journalist and musician who was murdered while working on a story.
Kate: It sounds interesting. What happens at the event?
Joshua: Well, its basically a large music festival, so there will be lots of bands and DJs performing. Plus, there will also be some food stalls, vendors, and, best of all, its free!
Kate: That sounds great! I love live music! Plus, it seems like a really interesting event, and Id like to show my support. What time is it?
Joshua: It starts at 1pm and goes until 10pm V so we can spend the whole day there if we want. Its at the Taipei Hakka Culture Park.
Kate: Perfect! Give me a call Saturday morning and we can arrange where to meet up! Thanks, Josh!
