Baltimore is one of Americas most interesting cities, and its perfect for tourists who want a US experience away from New York or Los Angeles. The Mount Vernon area of the city is famous for its 19th century townhouses, and its also home to the original 1829 Washington Monument. The tree-lined streets are wonderful for an afternoon stroll.

Theres a lot of food to be had in Baltimore, but the citys signature dish is definitely crab. For a simple feed of beautiful, white crabmeat, head to L. P. Steamers. Perfectly cooked crabs are taken to tables in buckets, and diners smash and break them apart with hammers.You may not want to wear you best shirt, because meals here can easily get messy.

The city is also known for its well-developed arts scene. You can catch a show at the Strand Theater, where female writers, directors, and performers ply their trade. The Station North art district is a fantastic place to wander, as youll come across artists workshops, murals, and street performers. Its a fresh, cool neighborhood, and its impossible to say exactly what youll see there.
