The dreamy place is located in Alsace in north-eastern France. It is not only the most Alsatian town in Alsace, but also the wine capital of the region. For a medieval city it is surprisingly big. Nevertheless, you can still get around on foot with no difficulty.

Colmars old town is where all of the attractions lie. When strolling through the town, visitors can admire the stunningly beautiful streets with half-timbered, gingerbread houses that have been well-preserved since the Middle Ages. Landmarks that are not to be missed include Little Venice, Unterlinden Museum, and the Bartholdi Museum, which is dedicated to Frederic Bartholdi, the sculptor who designed the Statue of Liberty.

The best time to visit Colmar is Christmas, as all the city comes to life. Like a magic paintbrush, the 1150 computer-driven light sources skillfully distributed throughout the town redraw the place, applying fresh contours and enhancing architectural details. The Christmas market is a long-standing tradition in the city, where there are enchanting stalls set up, selling handcrafts, antiques and all kinds of deliciousness.
