Delegation of Latvian Parliamentarians visits Taiwan
At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), a three-member delegation from the Latvian Parliament visits Taiwan from April 10 to 14, 2012. The delegation includes MP Ainars Latkovskis, Chairman of the Group for Inter-parliamentary Relations with Taiwan, MP Janis Vucans, Deputy Chairman, and MP Karlis Engelis.
The delegation members will call on Vice President of the Legislative Yuan Ms. Hsiu-chu Hung, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kuoyu Tung, who will host a luncheon in their honor. They will also call at the Government Information Office, the Mainland Affairs Council and the National Science Council, as well as visit the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101 and other sites of cultural and economic interest.
Except for Chairman Latkovskis, this is the first time the other delegation members to visit Taiwan. Being here will give them a better understanding of developments in Taiwan with respect to politics, the economy, culture, science and technology, and cross-strait relations. (E)
