"賓拉登的「告密者」遭到逮捕"

一名巴基斯坦的醫生通報賓拉登位於阿伯塔巴德的住處，也就是他被殺的地點，讓美國突襲，卻因此遭到逮捕。去年五月二日在賓拉登死後不久他就被帶走了。

美國國防部長利昂帕內塔擔心這名為突襲提供情報的醫生阿夫里迪的命運。他認為巴基斯坦和美國應該對恐怖主義有「共同理念」，因為美國委託巴基斯坦調查突擊並建議這名醫生應審以「叛國罪」的逮捕行動根本就是個錯誤。

有報導指出，中情局在阿伯塔巴德招募醫生組織假疫苗接種計劃。這個計畫真正的目的是要取得居民的DNA樣本來確定賓拉登身在城內。

華盛頓認為應該要釋放阿夫里迪醫生，並且讓他住在美國。在一場CBS節目《60分鐘》的訪問中，帕內塔先生說：「我很擔心巴基斯坦人會如何對待這名醫生。」他還說，阿夫里迪醫生為突襲提供了「非常有幫助」的消息。

A Pakistani doctor has been arrested for providing intelligence for the US raid on the Abbottabad home where Bin Laden was killed. He was taken away shortly after the death of Bin Laden on May 2 last year.

Leon Panetta, US Defense Secretary, is concerned about the fate of Shikal Afridi, the doctor who provided information for the raid. He feels that Pakistan and the United States should have common cause against terrorism and that the arrest is a mistake on the part of the Pakistani commission which investigated the raid and recommended that the doctor be tried for high treason.

Reports have emerged that the CIA recruited the doctor to organize a false vaccination program in Abbottabad. The true aim of the program was to confirm Bin Ladens presence in the city by obtaining DNA samples from residents.

Washington feels that Dr Afridi should be allowed to go free and live in the US. In an interview with CBS program, 60 Minutes, Mr Panetta said: Im very concerned about what the Pakistanis did with this individual. He added that Dr Afridi provided very helpful information for the raid.
