"胡錦濤的新年演說大獲喝采"

中國國家主席胡錦濤的新年演說在中國獲得廣泛迴響。新年前夕所播出的演說中，胡錦濤訴求「加強信心以完成2012年的任務。」很多人都將之視為政府著手進行改革的訊號，並且將會努力建立一個真正的已開發經濟體，造福全人民。

Observers seemed happy with the presidents statements.

The New Year address of Chinese President Hu Jintao has been widely welcomed throughout China. In the speech, which was broadcast on New Years Eve, Hu appealed for strengthened confidence to accomplish the tasks of 2012. This has been taken by many as a sign that the government will institute reform and strive to build a truly developed economy that benefits the entire population.

In addition to making people richer and controlling inflation, it is clear that the government is committed to environmental protection. Polluting factories are being closed down, and Wu Daofan, head of Bishan County in the Chongqing Municipality, explained how this was a win-win situation. Although we have lost some GDP after shutting down polluting plants, the better environment has attracted a great deal of investment, he said.

People living in Hong Kong and Macau were encouraged by Hus reiteration of the one country, two systems policy. Internationally, Hu spoke of Chinas independent foreign policy. In terms of diplomacy, China would always look for a solution that brought about peace, development, and cooperation, Hu said.
